Education

By Ryan Bailey, Jen Heymoss, and Joy Bailey

As educators we are acutely aware of the need to address the curricular gaps that often isolate and alienate exploited students in our schools, due to the lack of what Ladson-Billings (1994) calls a “culturally relevant curriculum”.  Units that explore the education theme associated with the Cultural Connections project are designed to recognize the class struggle within schooling, and to begin to transform schools into democratic learning communities incorporating a more culturally relevant curriculum.
